We hope you enjoyed your trip back in time to the Saga Castle main palace during the Edo Period. On your way out, we recommend that you exit via the Ogenkan, the castle main entrance, and leave through the main gate “Shachi-no-mon.” This gate remains exactly as it was back in the Edo Period, and there are two shachi, sculptures of an imaginary creature, on its roof. On the gate itself, you can see the bullet holes from when the new government's army and the Saga army fought in 1874. Also, stand at the gate and look back upon the Ogenkan; by doing so, you can clearly see how this museum stands 80 centimeters higher than before.
