8Restoration model of Saga Castle main palace

This model gives a bird’s-eye-view of the Saga Castle main palace. The roofed portion is the reconstructed palace you see today, totaling roughly 2,500 square meters and accounts for one-third of the entire palace. For the remaining structures which have not been reconstructed, the transparent acrylic portion shows the second story of the buildings. “Shachi-no-mon,” the main gate protected by sculptures of an imaginary creature, and “Goza-no-ma,” the private quarters of the lord, are examples of the only still-existing structures that have remained unchanged since the Edo Period.
