Please look below the glass. Feel free to step onto the glass to do so. The largest stone you see is a foundation stone from the end of the Edo Period that was discovered during the excavation and research project. Back then, the pillars were set directly on the foundation stones, but for this restoration project, we first laid a layer of sand for cushioning, and then laid on top a concrete pressure-resistant slate in order to protect these relics. Then, we placed above the old foundation stones new foundation stones, and then continued with the restoration.
