2Onshikidai (ceremonial hall)

This room is called the Onshikidai, or ceremonial hall. The guests who entered through the Ogenkan, the main entrance, were first greeted here. Today, we invite all of our guests to enter through the main entrance into this ceremonial hall so that you may experience what the privilege of being a powerful lord felt like. The raised space directly ahead of you is called the tokonoma, a space for displaying various objects. It is said that in the late Edo Period, a western-style gun was displayed here.
