Commemorative Exhibition of New Acquisitions 1
"The Imaizumi Kichiro and Yoshihiro Collection"

100 pieces of the collection that was collected by the late Mr. Imaizumi Kichiro and his heir, Mr. Imaizumi Yoshihiro, over two generations, were donated to the Kyushu Ceramic Museum.
It is an invaluable Hizen porcelain collection, with a focus on Arita ware produced in the first half of the Edo period. It also includes Nabeshima ware exclusively made at the Nabeshima official kiln established by the Saga clan in Imari City, Yoshida ware from Ureshino City, Saga Prefecture and Hasami ware from Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture.
Imaizumi Kichiro was born in Arita Town, Saga Prefecture, and was famously renowned as a Hizen ware researcher. He has published many books under the pen name of Imaizumi Genyu and was devoted to the collection and research of porcelain from the Hizen area. The collection contains the pieces introduced in his book and is also highly esteemed in terms of the history of the research.
In commemoration of the donation, all of the donated items will be on display along with the "Large Lobed Dish with Underglaze Cobalt-blue Design of Landscape" which was gifted by Imaizumi Kichiro in 1985, later designated as a National Important Cultural Property.
