Shakugikō Collection - The Essence of Shoki-Imari, Shoki-Iro-e, and Shoki-Nabeshima -
*This exhibition has finished.
First time exhibition of 43 objects from the Shakugikō Collection donated in the fiscal year of 2023 by a private collector living in Tokyo. We introduce excellent works from the Hizen porcelains, mainly produced in the 17th century, including Shoki-Imari, Shoki-Iro-e, and Shoki-Nabeshima.
The spontaneous, free-spirited brushwork seen in Shoki-Imari, the beginning of Japanese porcelain, the bold patterns and colour contrasts of Shoki-Iro-e, and the variety of Shoki-Nabeshima that was attempted before the Nabeshima style was perfected as presentation porcelain to the shogunate. Introducing all the works in the collection, where you can enjoy the charm of porcelain created in the 17th century, including its unique designs.
Please enjoy our collection of high-quality works carefully selected by the collector with great sensitivity.
